Knockbreda
offers you a welcome to a loving Christian family where Biblical
teaching and expository preaching are valued. A variety of worship
styles are offered. These range from traditional Anglican worship
including chanting (service one BCP) at 11.30 to (service two BCP)
at 10.00 when a range of musical instruments and a more relaxed
style is evident. Informal evening services are held twice a month
in the church hall.
Regular ‘Christianity Explained’ courses are held and also the basic
discipleship course ‘Firm Foundations’. Home groups are active for
Bible study and there is a full range of organisations for adults
and young people. There is a lively missionary interest,
particularly in Uganda, Rwanda and South America.
The present
building was opened in 1737 to replace two previous churches at
Knock and Breda. It was built at the expense of Lady Middleton on
site provided by her son Arthur Hill. For most of its life the
church was a rural parish. The 20th century saw it become a suburban
parish as the city of Belfast expanded around it.
